Born 1943, Deventer, The Netherlands
Having emigrated to Canada with his family, Klunder received his advanced education at Central Technical School in Toronto. His practice reflects the artist's diverse interests which include painting, printmaking, photography, performance and improvisational music. Known for his richly textured, complex abstract canvases that he builds up slowly over time, Klunder explores the world around him through lush colours and biomorphic shapes. He has exhibited across North America, Europe, Asia and South America and his work is represented in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal.
