Dorothy Knowles was born on April 7, 1927, on a farm near Unity, Saskatchewan. Early on as a child, she was interested in hoeing, planting, and watering the flowers on the family’s land. She is well-known for her landscape paintings and has had various important exhibitions across Canada and the United States. Knowles has mastered a variety of media including acrylic, oil, and watercolour. Knowles works in a range of scales from expansive Canadian landscapes to small astonishingly detailed watercolours. The smaller works are as impressive and engaging as the large ones.
