Harold Klunder - Quebec - One

(at 1010 Broad St.)

Harold Klunder creates a visual environment where architecture can become bone structure, a far away place can become a breath. Born in the Netherlands, Harold arrived in Canada in 1952, an eight year old eager to embrace all that North American culture had to offer. The heady history of Dutch painting meets the automobile, this fusion of worlds is ever present. When asked which painters are on his mind these days Klunders' overview brings together Karl Appel and Brice Marden one day, Jacques Hurtubise and Bram Van Velde on another. This is about paint and light and surface. Paint and light crystallize, bringing the viewer to a charged surface where past, present and future become one.
