Award-winning watercolourist Vivian Thierfelder draws on her much-loved garden for subject matter, creating supersaturated, colourful renditions of flowers and produce. Her masterful painting technique is infused with a passion for the lushness of the natural world.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Thierfelder received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 1970. Before turning to painting as a full-time pursuit in 1983, she worked for the Provincial Museum of Alberta in the areas of foreground preparation for the natural history diorama program as well as in exhibit design and construction.
