April 9 – April 25, 2009
Opening Reception
Thursday, April 9, 2009 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
After graduating from the Folkwang School in the city of Essen, Germany, Horst began his 40 year career as an artist, glass sculptor and designer. In spite of a very successful innovative painter he was driven to follow his passion - GLASS.
His innovative and outstanding achievement lies in creating sculptures whereby leaving the material (flat glass) in its original condition. To achieve this, the glass is cut, broken and adhered together, always exposing the sculptures to the changing effects of light. Horst Molleken's glass objects achieve, in close proximity to light, a superb variety of forms and figurations, their fascination reminiscent of journeys underwater and inviting the eye to wander, to be constantly surprised by beautiful new discoveries.
