"I have a profound love of the ocean and all things related to it. My studio overlooks the ocean and I am constantly entertained and distracted by the variety of natural and manmade scenes that unfold. This show represents a transition into some larger oils but also includes traditional watercolours."
Sheena Lott is a professional artist who for the past 20 years has had a very successful and varied career in art. She is best known for her crisp colourful watercolour paintings often featuring children in the landscape. Sheena also paints many large oils. Most of her work is now commissioned for corporations and private clients.
This busy artist has had many successful gallery exhibitions since 1987. Currently she exhibits in Victoria at the Winchester Galleries and Art Gallery of Greater Victoria Art rental. She was invited to be Artist in Residence for many local schools. She has won numerous awards including the Myfanwy Spencer Pavelic Award. Sheena was elected to AFCA status with the Federation of Canadian Artists in 1990. She has juried many art exhibitions including the Sooke Fine Arts Exhibition and Federation of Canadian artist exhibitions. In addition she teaches watercolour workshops on the Queen Mary and other cruise ships.
Sheena has illustrated nine children's books including the best-selling "Jessie's Island". Most recently she illustrated a children's book written by David Suzuki titled "Salmon Forest". She is often invited to lecture all across Canada on the process of book illustration. Her work is found in corporate and private collections all over the world.
