David is the author of over 40 best-selling books which include The Gift of Reading and For the Love of Reading.
Born and raised on the Canadian prairie, David now lives in British Columbia with his wife Vicki and their combined family of seven.
David Bouchard’s books have won several prestigious awards, among them: the gold medal in the Moonbeam award for I am Raven in 2008, the Governor General’s Award for The Song Within My Heart in 2004, and the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry award for Voices from the Wild in 1997.
In 2009, David was named to the Order of Canada.
Over the past two decades, Oak Bay author David Bouchard, OOC, has amassed a diverse and interesting collection of fine art. This prolific Métis author of over 50 books has worked with over two dozen accomplished artists, the likes of Allen Sapp, Michael Lonechild and Huang Zhong-Yang. David's books target all ages in that they combine poetry/prose, art and music. Many of his books contain CD's which enable him to feature the work of prominent Aboriginal musicians such as Susan Aglukark, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Northern Cree.
On April 11 paintings from David's collection will be made available to the public, as well autographed copies of his best-selling books.
