14th ANNUAL VICTORIA GALLERY WALK

 Victoria – Artistic talent is in the spotlight as downtown Victoria celebrates the 14th Annual Victoria Gallery Walk on Thursday, November 24th from 3 – 8 p.m.

 Featuring a dynamic lineup of exhibitions, live music and refreshments, this year there will also be a complimentary bus service to shuttle attendees between the seven downtown galleries (courtesy of the Downtown Victoria Business Association).

 The Gallery Walk Passport, which was introduced last year, is back by popular demand. Attendees who collect a passport stamp from each gallery will have the chance to win one of seven fabulous prizes, including original art and jewellery and gift certificates.

Chasing Form: New Directions in Repoussé will showcase beautiful handcrafted jewellery from several Northwest Coast artists, many of whom recently participated in an intensive workshop hosted by world-renowned silversmith Valentin Yotkov. Participating artists include Rande Cook, Chris Cook, Debbie Hunt, T.J. Young and Edward Joe.

In Her Own Words: Emily Carr, Katharine Maltwood and Myfanwy Pavelic examines the art and writing of these three unusual women, whose lives and art intersected on the west coast of B.C., and offers the artists' authentic perspectives on their art.

K'ulut'a and the Professor: The Friendship of Henry Hunt and Peter Smart celebrates the art and legacy of famed Kwakiutl artist Henry Hunt (K'ulut'a) and includes a significant collection of Hunt's masks, carvings and serigraph prints compiled by Dr. Peter Smart. Numerous contemporary native artists pay tribute to the influence on their work of Hunt's pivotal carvings and teachings.

This evening of fun and festivity is a perfect time to view West End Gallery’s annual Winter Collection, an eclectic group show featuring new paintings from all of the gallery’s artists including Steven Armstrong, Claudette Castonguay, Rod Charlesworth, Richard Cole, Greta Guzek, Laura Harris, Grant Leier, Annabelle Marquis, Karen Rieger and Claude A.
